Blogs, blogs and more blogs - 4:27 pm - 06-05-2007

With one thing and another politics have become a more frequent appearance in my conversations with people.

Today I was speaking with a friend at work when he said that he thought Thatcher was a good politician. I was shocked and asked him what policies he approved of, to which he replied “Privatisation”, thus we launched into a 40 minute discussion at the end of which he said that “Socialism seems plausible”.

Last monday I ended up speaking with a friend for hours on the French elections (we both are following them), The Guardian (we both read it) and feminism (she loves it, I don’t). I really enjoyed it because we had enough in common to be friendly but enough differences to merit debate. This made me realise that I wanted to start a political blog. I asked her if she was interested but she hasn’t replied yet. I’ll leave it a week and ask her again. I think it’d be a right laugh but I don’t think I’d want to do it solo. Thus there is a potential blog in the making.

Secondly, an explanation for why I’ve not posted in so very long. Firstly, exams are beginning very soon, so I’ve been very busy pretending to myself that I’m revising (incidentally does anyone know a sure fire way of learning a foreign language in 3 weeks?). And secondly, I have a music blog with John, Gav and Lauren. Check it out here.

Subliminal french talking tapes? or probably MP3s these days.
You can probs download them or make your own and then listen to it while asleep?
Or just all the time?

i hope he didn’t concede to the daft concept of socialism purely based on the many arguments for and against the fine idea that is privatisation?
